FLORA

Tree, Longest-Lived Species - Banyan (Ficus Benganensis), (Lives over 250 years)
Oldest - Shaitoot tree at Joshimath. (Uttar Pradesh) - believe to be 1200 years old
Tallest - Fir (Abies pindrow) and deodar (Cedras deodara) - average height 76.2m
Largest Teak Tree - At Kuttampuzha range of the Malayattur Forest division (Kerala) - Girth of 7.18m and height over 55m
Largest Tree Canopy - Banyan Tree at Thimmama Marrimanu, Anantapur District (Andhra Pradesh) - covers of 2.1 Hectares and ~ 1100 prop roots
Biggest Tree Trunk - Deodar (Cedrus Deodara) - Circumference 12m of more
High altitude plants - Stellaria decumbens in Himalayas (at altitudes 20,000 ft.)
Smallest Plants - Wolfia arrhiza, a duckweed with 1mm leaves, flowers invisible to naked eye
Smallest Blooms - Pilea microphylla, blooms diameter only 1/72 of an inch
Largest Leaf - Victoria amazonica (1.5 m in diameter) even a six year old child can sit on this water plant leaf
Longest Flower - Himalayan Rhubarb grows 3-4ft. long
Most Poisonous Flower - Aconitum balfourti found in Himalayas
Longest Creeper - Elephant creeper (Entado pursaetha), length upto 1.5km
Slowest growing plants - Orchids like Lady's slipper take 17 years to flower
Flowering Plant (slowest) - Dioon (only 2.01m in thousand years)
Tallest Bamboo - Dendrocalamus giganteus (height 30.4 - 36.5m, diameter 20 - 25 cm)
